How to Play

Play Pet Mahjongg online for free. Pet Mahjongg is a 50-stage timed Mahjong Solitaire game. Match pairs of open identical tiles to remove them from the playing field. Fish or season tiles can be matched with any other fish or season tiles. Clear each board of stones before the level timer runs out. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button on the game’s welcome screen to begin play, or select from 52 different layout designs by selecting the Level Select button.
Near the above buttons are buttons to read gameplay help advice, view your high scores, and play other games on our site.
The welcome screen has a language select dropdown in the lower left corner.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for social sharing and game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Select an open tile with your mouse left click button & then select an identical matching open tile to remove both from the game.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Select an open tile on the screen by tapping it with a finger & then select an identical matching open tile to remove both from the game.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The right rail has most of the game’s controls.
      - At the top there is a full screen button.
      - Next the game shows what level you are on, your cumulative game score, and how much time you have remaining to beat the current level.
      - At the bottom there are 5 buttons to pause or play, rotate tiles, take a hint, and to control game sound & game music.
      - Game Play
        Open stones
        A stone (or tile) is considered open if there is no tile directly on top of it & at least one of its left or right sides is open.
        Only open tiles can be matched.
        Tiles which are open have a brighter background color & tiles which are not open have more of a grayish background color.
        Selected tiles have a yellow outline while they are selected.
        When no matches remain the tiles are automatically shuffled.
        The automated shuffling does not cost you points or a shuffle.
        Conversely, this means that if the tiles have not shuffled you know there is at least 1 open match remaining.
        If you chose the wrong tile then selecting any other non-matching tile will deselect the prior tile.
        Some tiles from taller stacks can obscure part of tiles on shorter stacks. If you can’t find a match it might be because part of the tile is obfuscated.
        Generally it is best to go for the widest rows and tallest columns first to open up the playing field, but the unlimited free shuffles makes that less important in this game.
        Levels
        There are 54 different sets of board layouts you can choose to play, but when you play through a game you play through 50 levels.
        You are given a custom time limit to complete each level.
        Boards get more complex with the time limit increasing 5 seconds for each level you progress through, starting with a 2:05 limit on the first stage.
        You beat a level by removing all tiles from the playing field.
        If there are multiple tiles remaining in a stack & no other tiles remain on the level then the level is also complete as shuffling can not display an open pair if the only remaining tiles are on top of each other.
        If you fail to beat a level before the timer runs out you can choose to end your game or try again.
        When you replay a level the level’s layout design may change to a different layout with a similar difficulty level and tile count.
        Scoring
        Each tile match you make is worth 100 points.
        Your remaining time when a level is complete is worth 30 points per second.
        Shuffles cost you 300 points.
        Hints cost you 200 points.
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire stone matching games.
        The bright and colorful cartoony characters in this game and the simple level layouts early in the game make this a great introductory game for children.
        The game has no adult themed content.
